Our hens are always footloose and fancy free!

The key to producing great tasting eggs with bright orange yolks is to put your hens on great, green pastures!  During the growing season we rotate our laying hens through the pastures in our hen-mobiles.  These converted hay wagons provide shelter, transport and a place for our flock of 385+ brown egg laying hens to lay their eggs.

Our layer hens follow in the grazing rotation behind our other animals like cows and pigs to "clean up" of the pastures of bugs and weed seeds and to add their own fertile "contribution" to the complex ecology of our pastures and woods.

Eggs are not always available to non-CSA members but when they are they can be purchased in the farm store and at the Hilltop Cafe, which is located at our farm in the historic Abbot family farmhouse.
